Network Provision and Testing: Technical staff support for operations for Verizon

Duties included:

-          Managing work flow, installing, provisioning and testing new equipment into live network, recording inventories, coordinating testing with customers and Network Operations Center.

-          Staff responsibilities, developed training program and trained over 1000 technicians for new application.

-          Reviewed and developed logistical practices and methods of procedures for field operations in daily responsibilities and coordinating work flow between a variety of work groups.

 

 

2004 - 2009              Verizon              National, U.S.

Field Network Engineering Specialist:

Duties included:

-          Project Management. Assist with the planning, engineering, deployment and timeline management of new network infrastructure to the field.

-          Network Engineer, evaluate network demand, create business case, design new infrastructure, create spec package, coordinate equipment installation, define and coordinate integration with existing network.

-          Logistical Planning coordinated building access, equipment delivery, and NOC testing. Planned my own time and travel between the office and field. Area of responsibility includes the entire national network.

-          Quality Assurance, after reviewing engineering specifications I perform in the field quality audits based upon the IP (Installation Practice) 72202 Telcordia installation practices. This also includes capturing and recording accurate inventory records.

-          First Office Applications, worked closely with a variety of equipment vendors in lab settings to test and develop deployment procedures for adding new and upgrading existing equipment in to the Verizon SONET (Synchronous Optical Networking) and DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) network.

-          Procedure writing, created new equipment installation documentation, test and turn-up practices, high risk work MOP’s ( Methods of procedure) and labeling specifications to be utilized by installation vendors and field operations technicians.

-          Test and acceptance, Initial configuration and testing of new network elements such as FOC (Fiber Optic Characterization) testing for DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) equipment, new DWDM rings, SONET ADM(Synchronous Optical Networking, Add Drop Multiplexing) rings, and integration of new equipment to existing networks.

-          Network upgrades, Planed integration of new hardware, node insertions, individual circuit rolls and updating software releases on live networks.
